For many women seeking pregnancy at an advanced maternal age, IVF treatment is not only a beacon of hope but also a challenging journey.
Today's story is about Ms. E, a successful case from Dr. Chang Fu-Hsuan. She previously gave birth to her first child with his help. Once her life had stabilized, she returned to Dr. Chang’s clinic, hoping to undergo IVF again and welcome a new member to her family.
Each Treatment, Each Challenge
At the age of 42, Ms. E had an AMH level of 2.08, which was still within the normal range. She could retrieve 4 to 8 eggs each cycle, but due to the higher rate of chromosomal abnormalities in embryos at an advanced maternal age, she needed patience to wait for a healthy blastocyst.
Even though her physical condition was fine, the reality of age still reflected in her embryo development results. After five days of cultivation and PGT-A screening, only one chromosomally normal blastocyst was typically available for transfer.
Persistence and Trust Led to Hope
Despite these challenges, she placed her trust in Dr. Chang’s expertise and the dedicated efforts of the Gene IVF team. After five egg retrievals and three embryo transfers, she finally saw the long-awaited two pink lines after her third transfer. A few weeks later, she successfully graduated from Gene IVF and moved on to the next stage of her journey.
Although the success rate of pregnancy at an advanced age is lower, it does not mean there is no hope. With a well-planned, professional IVF approach and PGT-A preimplantation genetic testing, selecting healthy and viable blastocysts for transfer can significantly increase the chances of implantation.
More importantly, Ms. E’s unwavering determination was a key factor in her success! We deeply appreciate her trust in Dr. Chang and the Gene IVF team. 🤗 We wish her a smooth and healthy pregnancy and look forward to the day when we welcome her family of four back to Gene IVF! 💕
